Rhododendrons are generally rounded shrubs where their height and width are often quite similar, whereas camellias in general will achieve a height that is 1.5 to 2 times their width. The larger varieties make an excellent backdrop to smaller shrubs in wide garden beds and under and adjacent to large trees.
